These collaborations provide critically needed resources to ensure the continuance of Baltimore Black Pride and our success in serving our community.

International federation of Black Prides: Organizational Sponsor

The International Federation of Black Prides (IFBP) is a coalition of Black Pride organizers formed to promote a multinational network of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender ) Prides and community-based organizations. The International Federation of Black Prides was organized during DC Black Pride of May 1999 by a coalition of Black Pride organizers representing Chicago, North Carolina, New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Washington, DC. The coalition saw a need to organize the twenty-plus Black Prides in the United States and abroad for the purpose of developing sponsorship strategies, providing technical assistance, networking, mentoring, and supporting one another. IFBP acquired its IRS 501 (c)(3) non-profit status in November, 2004. Visit the IFBP web site.


Act Against AIDS Leadership Initiative: Organizational Sponsor

The Act Against AIDS Leadership Initiative (AAALI) is a $16 million, six-year partnership between CDC and leading national organizations representing the populations hardest hit by HIV. CDC launched AAALI as part of its Act Against AIDS communication campaign in 2009. The initiative initially brought together some of the nation’s foremost African American organizations to intensify HIV prevention efforts in black communities. In 2010, CDC expanded AAALI to also include organizations that focus specifically on men who have sex with men (MSM), and the Latino community. Visit the AAALI web site.

The Afro-American Newspapers: Silver Sponsor

The Afro-American Newspaper was founded in 1892 by John Henry Murphy Sr., a former slave, when he combined his church newspaper "The Sunday School Helper" with two other Baltimore newspapers. Murphy led his newspaper to national fame by the time of his death in 1922, when it was led by his son Carl Murphy, who headed the paper for 45 years and established 13 national editions. Many prominent Black journalists and writers have worked for the Afro-American, including William Worthy, J. Saunders Redding, and Langston Hughes. It remains in the Murphy family, today led by publisher John Oliver. From its earliest years, the Afro-American has been a strong force for racial equality and equal opportunity, as well as a force for economic and social advancement of Blacks in America. Today, it continues its mission with insightful coverage of current events and major social trends. The Afro-American publishes two editions weekly, in Baltimore and Washington D.C. The Baltimore City Health Department is the oldest, continuously operating health department in the United States. It was formed in 1793, when the governor appointed the city's first health officers in response to a yellow fever outbreak in the Fells Point neighborhood along the northwest branch of the Patapsco River. GayLife is a publication of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center of Baltimore and Central Maryland (GLCCB). It's published every other Friday in Baltimore, Maryland, with distribution throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. In October 2009, the Blade celebrated its 40th anniversary as an award-winning news source with a large following in print and online.
